VIDEO WORKS

Composed of blended footage from a range of recording devices, my time-based works comprise a sequence of frames that form moving paintings.

The intention for my video work is to create transcendental experiences that are otherworldly yet connected to nature. Using digital tools and technologies to express natural phenomena, I draw coherent links between sound and colour. Each composition builds on the personal audio-visual language that informs my own understanding of the natural world, which is projected back at the viewer to create a shared experience.

I intuit soundscapes for the videos based on how I understand particular colour hues, shifting at pace, should sound. While they are often experienced simultaneously, there is a discourse between my sound works and the video component. Initially the video serves as the subject to which the sound work responds. However, I always go back to the video to make changes that align more coherently with the sound, and then back again to the sound work to make further changes that refine the articulation of colours. Each work holds an echo of the iterations that have been in dialogue and leave traces on the finished works.
